My Addiction To Reality TV Shows

If you know anything about me, you know that I love watching Reality TV. Yes, I'm a junkie and although I still watch a few scripted shows my line up of shows are mostly made up of reality tv. I know that some people feel as though reality is not real, but just let me stay ignorant to that fact. I have not had any shame in admitting that I am a reality tv junkie, but when I signed up for Twitter it hit me in the face. Everybody that I wanted to follow had been seen on a reality show. Is it me or is it just a new day in TV Land? Honey, I was just picking people and talking to them like I was on a show too. Even though many of them were already celebrities, a few of them were made famous by being on the show. I think these shows are a good way for celebrities to become relevant, when they have been off of the scene for a minute.

I watch the ones that are a hot mess, but most of them are just train wrecks waiting to happen. The ones that I enjoy the most are the ones that give me an inside look into the cast members lives. I love to see them achieve their dreams and fight against the odds. I become the fan of all fans when I start supporting them. If I hear someone talking crap about them, I defend them like they are my family members. I really do have all of my senses and you might be thinking, "is she serious" well, yes I am. By the end of this blog you will see how serious I really am.

The Tiny & Toya Show
I didn't know what to expect when I started watching this show. All I knew was that Tiny was TI's woman and that Toya was Lil Wayne's ex-wife. I didn't even know that Tiny was in the R&B group, Xscape. They were given a chance to show me exactly who they were and I fell in love with them. Tiny is a little young to understand the components that make for a peaceful relationship, but she has it down pact. She stated that Tip didn't want her to work, but she has a desire to get back into the business. I thought that it was special for her to consider her man's wishes. Most young ladies are so much about self that they would not have even given that a second thought. Another thing that I love about her is the solid family background that she comes from. I am just in awe of this young lady and I really can't list all of the reasons why. Toya has a different story and I love her for her desire to become whole after dealing with her issues. I was proud to see her work toward becoming self sufficient and beginning the healing process. The supporting members in the show Phaedra Parks and Kiesha Babi Miles also made an impact on me. Phaedra is the sassy lil attorney representing Toya as she sought out a book deal. Kiesha is Tiny's business partner at Major P Productions and when she announced that she as starting a book club, I wanted in on that. I hope I haven't been a pest, but I'm hoping to help her with that project.

The T.O.Show
Well, I'm not really a football fan, but Dallas,TX is my home town, so when I found out that the former Dallas Cowboy was going to have a new reality show, I was all in. I did not know about all of the trouble he had been in, but when I did my research, I realized why his publicist wanted him to do this show. He needed people to see the real man Terrell Owens because the football player T.O. was a bit much. I think that they accomplished their goal, because I must say I like the man. He's tough yet he's sensitive and he has some things from his past that has created this alter ego that hits the football field. He confronted some serious issues and he did it well. I will be watching as he takes the Buffalo Bills to the championship. Sorry Cowboys, he won me over. I am still undecided about how I feel about Kita and Mo, but I do think they have Terrell's best interest at heart, maybe they will get a spin off show and I'll make my decision then.

Frankie & Neffie Show
I was waiting for this show, because I loved Keyshia Cole's show "The Way It Is". I am a little irritated with all of the negative comments about Neffe, because she is in the growth process. I really don't care what people think about me liking the show, because I do. If I knew Neffe I would take her under my wings and give her that mother's love that heals. She is doing a wonderful job at picking up the pieces of her broken life. Anytime a black person seeks professional help, I stand up and applaud. Besides Frankie & Neffe, I am loving Soullow, Neffe's man. Elite, her sister and Dariel, her friend and hair stylist.

The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
I can honestly say that I like all of the Bravo housewives, but Atlanta is a different kind of show. In the first season, NeNe was my favorite because I felt like she was the most real. I also loved Deshawn Snow and was a little critical when she was replaced in the second season by Kandi Burruss. Since I was already upset by the replacement I was ready to judge Kandi harshly. When I saw her mother, I knew that I was going to like this new addition. She reminded me of myself, because she is so outspoken and she refused to be fake. I began to question NeNe's motives. I didn't know if the 15 minutes of fame had gone to her head or if she was just in shock about everything that happened in the first season. It started looking like the "who is NeNe's friend show". There was plenty of drama to go around and I was starting to like Sheree a little more. The castmates Lisa and Kim are still on my radar because I can't quite put my finger on it yet, but I'm reading a little two-faced vibe, but I don't like putting my foot in my mouth so I'll leave it at that. The standouts for me were the supporting cast. Mama Joyce, love her. Tonia, Sheree's friend. Lawrence, Sheree's hair stylist. Don Vito, miracle producer of Tardy for the party track. Dwight Eubanks, NeNe's friend and honorary Housewife. They all helped make the show a success.

When Reality Becomes Real
By now I know that most of you have heard about the death of AJ Jewell. He appeared on The Real Housewives Of Atlanta. He is the ex-fiance of Kandi Burruss. When I heard the news that he was killed outside of a local nightclub, I was devastated. When I say I love Kandi, it's not a figure of speech. I know that they were no longer together, but she has custody of his twin daughters. I reached out to Kandi and some of her friends. I had the priveledge to tweet with her about a post that I left on her blog and I hope she thought about the things that I told her. Now although her mother didn't think that AJ was right for her, don't get it twisted. She loves her daughter and I know from one mother to another she would not have wanted this to happen. When all of the smoke clears, Kandi will rise from the ashes and she will fulfill her destiny and I know this because I am in constant Prayer for her. I would not have known Kandi or AJ if they were not on a reality show, but I thank God that I could speak something into this young ladies life and I look forward to the day I can wrap my arms around her and thank her for being who she is. I also want to thank her mother, because she raised her to be as loving as she is and she created a treasure that hard to find nowadays. If you don't know Kandi, you have missed out on a real jewel and those that know her up close and personal, God has blessed you to see goodness through and through.

I'll end it right there, because that's how real Reality TV has been to me.
